Countdown ...

So the countdown has started in earnest to Christmas.  I've finished all the shopping and I'm just cracking on with other unfinished crochet projects while I enjoy the cold weather.  We haven't had much snow here in Bognor Regis but boy is it cold!

Friends

Aren't friends wonderful!  I handed out a few Christmas presents today that I had crocheted or knitted and I just loved their reaction ... being Santa Claus is fab especially when presents are handmade!  I've got some more Can Can yarn to knit up and someone has already put an order in for a purple scarf :-)

I've still got to make up the felted brooches and necklaces but it all takes time and I just need more hours in the day!!

Christmas ...

So Christmas seems to creep up ... how can it do that?!  This time in 2 weeks time it will all be over.  I've still got cards to write, presents to wrap but more importantly I've still got presents to make!! ARGH!!

I bought some beautiful Colinette soft 100% wool (made, spun and dyed in Wales so all very sustainable!) from a lovely shop in Arundel (http://www.fabricbuttonsandbeads.co.uk/ ) yesterday and I've already crocheted it all up already on a number 12 hook ... it looks fab and once I've created some finished touches of adding big buttons or crocheted flowers then they will make some lovely presents.

I've got so many projects I want to start my head is buzzing!  However the clock is ticking until Christmas and some lovely quality time with family and friends.

Difficult

Day to day life can be hard at times but as soon as you walk through your front door and have a coffee and pick up the crochet or knitting and turn on the TV life always seems simpler!

They're always hard aren't they!

So I've had delivered some lovely honey coloured wool to make some gorgeous cushions in cable stitch.  I guess some people don't get yarn but I find it amazing how you can take something so simple and yet make such beautiful things for you, friends and the home.

Sunday ...

So the weekend has been lovely.  Parties, walks on the South Downs in the snow!

I finished the commissioned Lavender Blue Alpaca scarf - it looks great.

I've now started crocheting so that I can create some felted brooches, necklaces etc.  My head is buzzing with ideas and I just need more hours in the day to complete them all!

Cosy

So the world just outside my door is still covered in a thick blanket of snow and the world looks lovely.  I'm keeping the news off for today just to enjoy the tranquility!  I've been outside and had a trudge around in the snow and my fingers and toes now have that tingly cold feeling ... I'm all rosy from the cold but I'm now back inside all cosy.  Sat on the sofa about to enjoy a lovely milky coffee, hob nob and some crochet.

I've been comissioned to create a scarf out of some beautiful lavender blue alpaca yarn ... so a crocheting I must go!

Snow

Well, I've woken up today to the most beautiful scene. 

Snow!

It really does make the world look tranquil. 

We don't have any hills, for sledge fun, within walking distance living right on the south coast and the South Downs being a good 10 miles away so I think there will be some snowman building, coffee drinking and some crochet while snuggled up warm at home!

The Start ...

Well Lavender Loops is finally up and running and I'm really excited about my new website http://www.lavenderloops.co.uk/

Working with wool is really thearapeutic and the results are amazing ... see my gallery for past projects.  I'm currently working on some new pieces that will be ready for sale soon.  The first is a comissioned beautiful dark powder blue Alpaca scarf with wavy lace design each end. 

I've got some UK sourced wool for some gorgeous hot water bottles and with this snow I can't start them soon enough.  Keep an eye out for them!
