Farnham Maltings Vintage Fair

What a super day :-)

A wonderful drive through the countryside, leaving Baby Lavender setting out on a cycle ride with Mr Lavender and friends around Chichester Harbour.

The event came highly recommended and it certainly didn't disappoint - last year they had over 2000 people through the doors so they had a lot to live up to.  Ease of parking at no additional charge and a nice atmosphere as soon as I walked in a few minutes after the doors opened was a great start.  The free brochure illustrated that they had a wondeful array of goodies on offer (too many to mention them all I'm afraid!).

A friend of mine, Olive Homeware, had a stand full of wonderful vintage books and crockery mixed in with some beautifully handmade products and it was lovely to see a friendly face.

This lovely Baby Walker found a new home from Olive Homeware
One of the first stands I was drawn to was Annie and Lizzie.  Hannah follows Lavender Loops, so I was just delighted, it was nice to meet her and have a natter - I have to say thank you for making me feel so welcome and hope that she had a productive day :-)

A selection of goodies from Annie & Lizzie
There was a huge variety of stands in a maze of halls, rooms and courtyards covering shabby chic, retro, pretty vintage, vintage clothes, hand made upcycled items, toys, books, furniture, vinyl, fabric and a plethera of vintage wonderfullness all enhanced by the music and dance - I particularly liked em-ge-em and the electro swing mix created by Mark McCallum that I enjoyed in the sunny courtyard.  The event must have been good as I arrived at 10 and left at 3pm with a much needed break for a coffee and slice of cake and a 45 minute drive there and back .... it was a *lovely* day out.

I made a few purchases and they are now happily sat in my sewing box ready for some inspiration to hit me.  Ali Hocking of Betty & Violet told me about the dolls she had beautifully displayed.  - all unique, exclusive to Betty & Violet but I don't think Baby Lavender would really appreciate them at the moment at only 20 months old.  The collection of antique lace really was something else and all so beautifully displayed.

The next little doll that grabbed my attention was from Fabric Button and made from vintage fabrics. Sue Cooper certainly adds that little bit of detail naming each new creation and giving them all personalities.
This is Suzie who likes going for tea with her friends.

Real Green Dress had a lovely range of clothes but this little baby outfit grabbed my attention for it's wonderful buttercream colour and wonderful smocked/sheared detail.  Baby Lavender is much too big for this now but it certainly would have looked cute on her :-)
Ann of Anniewear was lovely when I asked to take a picture of this very colourful crochet blanket.  It wasn't old but certainly was reminiscent of the vintage style I love ... and these crochet blankets whenever they're made are a classic.
I made a couple of Lavender Loops purchases .... some lovely crocheted trim, some small doilies and lovely lace/crochet hankerchieft and a little white cotton tunic top for Baby Lavender was only £1 ... delight, delight, delight.  I could have spent far more on the stand I got the top from but I'm going to wait until I have a definite idea for a theme in my sitting room as Ida Chapman had a superb selection of french antique linens.

I bought a lovely old Waddingtongs Memory Game that has some great illustration which was from a wonderful toy stand called Knickerbocker Glory and a fab jigsaw from Vintage in Design
From The Vintage Bazaar
I truly enjoyed my day out and as the owner of Olive Homeware will tell you I always come back enthused to get cracking on some Lavender Loops creations :-)

I can recommend Farnham Maltings Vintage Fair and Lavender Loops will be back next year ... who knows maybe as a stall holder!
